Religion I

Our religious education program strives to develop a strong faith foundation in each child and to invite the student into the life and mission of the Church, which is the mission of Jesus Christ. Our hope is that each child, with God’s grace and through the action of the Holy Spirit, comes to an understanding of his/her faith and is able to articulate it in daily living.

The Blest Are We program, published by RCL Benziger, is used in Grades 1 through 4. The following topics are explored at each grade level:

Grade 1 -     God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; our Church Community; Baptism; the Mass; Church Seasons and Holy Days; Mary, Our Mother; Saints, Feasts, and Special People

Grade 2 -      The Sacraments, particularly Baptism, Reconciliation, and Eucharist; the Parts of the Mass; the Liturgical Year; Saints and Feast Days; Titles of Mary, the Mother of God; Praying the Rosary.

Grade 3 -     The Marks of the Church; the Church’s Mission to the World;
The Saints; Mary, Mother of God; the Liturgical Calendar and Church Seasons
