Over the past month, the fifth grade students have been preparing for their first WordMasters Challenge on Friday, November 18th. The WordMasters Challenge is a vocabulary competition based on completing analogies. In preparation for this competition, students have been taught what analogies are and some of the most common relationships analogies may express, such as synonyms and antonyms. The fifth graders then analyzed different analogies to determine the relationship being expressed and filled in the missing word. To better understand and apply the WordMaster words, students wrote WordMaster sentences and played WordMaster Pictionary and Bingo. On Halloween, students even dressed up to represent the meaning of an assigned WordMaster word!
