6th grade students have taken a look into the day of the life of an accountant while inputting data into Microsoft Excel. They have been working on graphing their Science Fair Data in the STEM lab and creating data displays including line graphs and bar graphs to demonstrate the results of their experiments. Students have also been learning about multiple other types of graphs including circle graphs, line plots, stem and leaf plots, histograms, as well as frequency tables and when they would be most useful. This opened their minds to how data is used for everyday use and instead of being accountants anymore, the students leapt into the market of advertising. Students created misleading data displays for their products in order to entice the consumer to purchase their goods. Students even create short commercials to present their graphs and products using their iPad devices. From crunching numbers to creatively displaying them, it was evident that when these minds are in the job market, they will have a number of diverse skills to display to their prospective employers.
