1.11.16 Math Glyphs

Students in 5th grade math have recently completed the first 5 chapters, focusing on fluency with whole numbers and decimals. Key concepts learned included place value, multiplication and division with whole numbers, and using all four operations with decimals. In culmination of their study, the students created Goofy Math Glyphs, in which they honed their math abilities while putting together a fun Christmas project! The students first had to correctly solve 10 math problems. The answers to the problems dictated what choice they would make to complete their Glyph. In order to successfully create a Goofy Glyph, students had to fluently multiply whole numbers and add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to the hundredths. Oh, what fun it is to compute in a one horse open sleigh!
