Covid-19

Ancillae-Assumpta Academy recognizes that knowledge regarding COVID-19 is constantly changing as new information becomes available. The Academy’s administration, in consultation with our Pandemic Crisis Response Team, will adjust these recommendations as needed to reduce the risk to our school community as this new information becomes available.

Prevention

The following actions are the best way to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after you have been in a public place. If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol, covering all surfaces of your hands and rubbing them together until they feel dry. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

  • Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care. If you are sick, wear a face covering when you are around other people and before you enter a healthcare provider's office. (You do not need to wear a face covering if you are not sick, unless you are caring for someone who is sick.)

  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or use the inside of your elbow. Throw used tissues in the trash. Immediately wash your hands or use hand sanitizer afterward.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. If surfaces are dirty, clean them with detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.

In the Event of an Illness

  • If you develop symptoms of COVID-19, stay home and call your health care provider immediately.

  • If a student or family member is diagnosed with COVID-19, such that it makes participating in distance learning difficult or impossible for the student, please contact the principal. We are committed to working with all families impacted by the disease.

Travel Guidance

Travel Update

4/8/21:  If your travel over the Spring Break took you outside the continental U.S., we ask that you follow our quarantine requirements – a seven-day quarantine with a PCR test on day five or a ten-day quarantine. Our school policy for travel in the U.S. does not require quarantining unless your activities did not follow the previously mentioned protocols related to masking, distancing, and avoiding gatherings.

12/16/20: The Health and Safety Team of our Pandemic Response Task Force has updated our travel policy.  If a student travels anywhere outside of PA, 10 days of quarantine or 7 days of quarantine with a negative PCR test taken no earlier than 5 days following one’s return from the location is required before attending in-person instruction.  (For example, if a student travels out of state and returns on January 4, he/she will quarantine until January 14 and return to campus on January 15, or he/she will have a PCR test on January 9, and if the results are negative, he/she may return to campus on January 11.)

Families or employees planning any travel should check the CDC COVID-19 Travel Recommendations by Country and U.S. State Department Travel Advisories websites, as well as the CDC Coronavirus and Travel in the United States website. If you travel to countries or areas of the U.S. under CDC or State Department health notices or advisories or areas with widespread COVID-19 community transmission, or if you have had contact with someone with COVID-19, please follow CDC recommendations and self-quarantine for 14 days.
