Fine Arts

2012 - 2013 Fine Arts Registration

The performing and creative arts provide children with authentic learning experiences that absorb and connect their bodies, minds, and hearts.  As a result, these learning experiences become meaningful for them, and allow for the further development of cognitive, social, and personal competencies.  While learning in other disciplines may often focus on development of a single skill or talent, the performing arts consistently involve and incorporate numerous skills and abilities.

In providing a Fine Arts program  for students at Ancillae-Assumpta Academy, the school is committed to furthering the development of arts programs which will engage the students in dynamic learning experiences that can assist in complementing their overall learning.
Involvement in the fine arts  is an investment in a child’s future.  In a handbook, “Academic Preparation for College:  What Students Need to Know And Be Able To Do”, published by The College Board, it states: “Preparation in the arts will be valuable to college entrants whatever their intended field of study.  The actual practice of arts can engage the imagination, foster flexible ways of thinking, develop disciplined effort, and build self-confidence.”
The goal and desire of the Academy’s Fine Arts program is for each student to build a noble soul, to develop an appreciation of beauty, to give a sense of purpose to life, to learn the discipline of acquitting a skill and to become a fine human being.  This is “Talent Education.”  Talent can be learned and ability can be developed with the proper education and environment.
