A Day in Stepping Stones


 

7:50-8:20 Arrival - Students gather with teacher in the group room off the preschool area.

8:30-8:45 Morning Circle - Our Morning Circle includes discussions about the calendar, prayer, season, weather, and various themes and topics.

8:45-9:15 Choice Time - During this part of our day the children make choices in the centers located through out the classroom.  The centers include dramatic play, language, mathematics, building/blocks, and science activities.  Free choice allows the children time to develop their social skills through developmentally appropriate activities.    

9:15-10:15 Whole and Small Group Lessons - Introductions to themes and topics are given at this point in our morning.  The children are taught in both whole and small group settings.  During this time we read books, make art projects, and introduce new choices.  Activities are geared to developing fine and gross motor skills.  The children are encouraged to share ideas and thoughts on the topic we are discussing.      

10:15-10:40 Snack - Snack is provided by Ancillae Assumpta Academy

10:40-11:15 Outside Play - The children are given time to have fun and explore on the playground equipment.

Additional Classes - Once a week the children will have Gym, Music, and Spanish class.

11:30 Dismissal - Dismissal is in the Stepping Stones’ classroom

A Lunch Bunch program is available to children which extends the day until 12:30 p.m.  Lunch Bunch children enjoy stories and songs before moving up to the Preschool for lunch. Dismissal is at 12:30 on the Sacred Heart Center Ramp.
