A Day in Preschool


7:50-8:20 Arrivals and Activities:
 

Children are greeted at the cubby area with a handshake.  Tote bags are checked.  After hanging their totes in their cubbies, the children enter the large room to meet friends and make choices from the shelves.  Children will be invited to put on slippers on the days we do not leave the building for enrichment activities.

8:20 -8:40 Cluster Time:

Children gather with their cluster teacher in saying the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer to start our school day.  Cluster activities may include daily news, calendar, stories, poems, songs, Spanish, show and tell, themed discussions and group lessons.

8:40-10:50 Work Time:

Children make work choices from the shelves in the areas of Language, Math, Sensorial, Practical Life, Culture, Science, Art, and Religion. Individual and small group lessons provide guidance to challenge each child and promote the development of new skills.  Part of our morning schedule includes time for Art Appreciation, Music, Spanish, and Gym.

10:50-11:00 Cluster time: 

Children gather to end their morning of work followed by the start of recess.

11:00-12:35 Lunch/Recess time

12:30-12:45 Afternoon Transition:

Half day children are dismissed. Children staying full day prepare for afternoon activities or rest with stories and songs.

1:00-2:40 Afternoon Enrichment:

Children not resting participate in group lessons for Science, Culture, Computer, D.U.S.O. (Developing Understanding of Self and Others)/ Second Step, Handwriting Without Tears, yoga, religion, and Spanish/sign.  Additional time provides for work activities and special projects.

2:40—3:00 Clean-up and Cluster Time:

To end our day, children gather with their cluster to review the day and prepare for dismissal.
