A Day in Kindergarten
7:50-8:20 Arrivals and Activities: Children are greeted at the door with a handshake. Tote bags are checked. After hanging their totes in their cubbies, the children go upstairs to meet friends and play games.
8:20 -8:40 Assembly Time:
Children gather together in saying the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer to start our school day. Following our calendar and weather activities, the children move into work time with their cluster teacher.
8:40-11:15 Work Time:
Each cluster follows a schedule that allows time in each of the area rooms. Children will make work choices in the areas of math,language, culture and computer. Individual and small group lessons provide guidance to challenge the individual child and promote the development of new skills in each area. Part of our morning schedule includes time for art appreciation, music, Spanish, gym, and library.
11:15 - 12:30 Lunch/Recess time:
Kindergarten eats lunch in the Student Dining Room with the cluster teachers. Lunch is followed by recess time on the Regli Playground.
12:30 - 2:40 Afternoon Enrichment:
Children continue their schedule in rotating through areas of the Kindergarten environment. Included in this schedule is a visit to the computer room providing for further enrichment in writing skills and language development. Other group enrichment classes included in the curriculum are religion, Spanish & sign, culture, science, yoga, handwriting, and Second Step.
2:40—3:00 Clean-up and Cluster Time:
To end our day, children gather with their cluster to review the day and prepare for dismissal.
